2024 Singapore Open squash: Athletes to watch
Ali Farag, the four-time world champion, is one of the top athletes to watch out for. The Egyptian sealed his first PSA Tour victory this season in last month’s U.S. Open and will look to further close the gap on Road to Tour Finals leader Mostafa Asal in Singapore.
Diego Elias from Peru will look to settle scores, having lost to Farag in the U.S. Open final and last year’s Singapore Open final. He would be another athlete with a lot of fire in his belly.
Reigning world champion New Zealand’s second seed Paul Coll is another big name to watch in the men’s competition.
On the women’s side, World No. 3 Hania El Hammamy is the top seed at the 2024 Singapore Open. The Egyptian has been a regular competitor in the final four of the most prestigious events.
Belgian returning champion Nele Coll and another Egyptian Tinne Gilis are the second and third seeds respectively, while Malaysia’s rising star Siva Subramaniam will be the frontrunner for another title.
The squash tournament will also feature four Singaporean wildcard entries including eight-time national champion Samuel Kang and seven-time national champion Au Yeong Wai Yhann.
