Hasaranga Still in Doubt for Asia Cup: Sri Lanka’s star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga is facing a race against time to be fit for the Asia Cup in Dubai and Abu Dhabi next month. The 28-year-old was not included in the T20 squad for the Zimbabwe series, which raises big questions about his availability for the continental tournament.

Hasaranga has been sidelined since picking up a hamstring injury during the T20I series against Bangladesh. He has not recovered in time for the Zimbabwe tour, ruling him out of both the ODIs and T20Is.

Spin Duties and New Inclusions

With Hasaranga missing, Sri Lanka will continue to rely on Dunith Wellalage and Maheesh Theekshana to handle spin responsibilities across the three T20Is, just as they did in the ODI series.

The selectors have also recalled T20 specialists Matheesha Pathirana and Nuwan Thushara, while introducing two fresh faces in Kamil Mishara and Vishen Halambage. The squad consists of 17 players, and if Hasaranga proves his fitness later, a few adjustments could be made.

Batting Core and Team Goals

On the batting side, Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, Kusal Perera, Kamindu Mendis, and captain Charith Asalanka remain the backbone of the lineup. Having lost the T20I series against Bangladesh last month, Sri Lanka will be eager to bounce back with a strong performance in Zimbabwe.

Series Details

The three-match T20I series kicks off on September 3 at the Harare Sports Club. The second and third games follow on September 6 and 7 at the same venue. The series concludes just two days before the Asia Cup begins, where Sri Lanka will face Bangladesh in their opening match on September 13 in Abu Dhabi.
