Sports Digest Boycott India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 Match: In light of recent events surrounding Operation Sindoor, the Pahalgam attack, and the growing anger of the Indian public, SD Hindi and SD English have taken a unanimous editorial decision: we will not cover the upcoming India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 match.
The match, once celebrated as cricket’s fiercest rivalry, has become a symbol of misplaced priorities and hypocrisy. While soldiers bleed at the border, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and senior players have chosen entertainment, TRPs, and international appeasement over national sentiment.
Our stance is clear – cricket cannot be placed above country.
Exposing Hypocrisy
The same icons who once thundered against Pakistan are now silent or compliant. Head Coach Gautam Gambhir, who, after the Pulwama attack, had demanded a complete boycott of Pakistan in every format, now defends participation in the Asia Cup 2025. Team Captain Suryakumar Yadav, too, has chosen to lead his side onto the field at a time when empty stands and angry voices clearly show the mood of the nation.
If former players could refuse to play Pakistan in the Legends League as a mark of respect to the armed forces, why is the senior national team unwilling to take the same stand when it truly matters? This glaring double standard cannot be ignored.
Our Decision On India vs Pakistan, Asia Cup 2025:
In a joint statement, our editorial board declares:
“Sports Digest have decided to boycott the upcoming India-Pakistan match. Furthermore, we will also be boycotting BCCI Team Captain Surya Kumar Yadav and BCCI Team Coach Gautam Gambhir. From this moment onwards, Sports Digest will not cover, publish, or promote any story related to Surya Kumar Yadav or Gautam Gambhir – not just for this event, but for a lifetime. This is a firm and final decision. We will not lend our platform to voices that place profit and power above patriotism.”
Our solidarity lies with the families of martyrs and with millions of Indians who feel this match is an insult to their sacrifice. For us, the choice is simple – country first, cricket later.
