The Indian cricket team, led by Rohit Sharma, won their third Champions Trophy with an exciting four-wicket victory over New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final in Dubai. This win made India the most successful team in the tournament’s history.

As the Indian players walked up to the podium to receive their trophy and the iconic ‘white jacket,’ Gavaskar, who was part of the official English commentary team, couldn’t hold back his joy. The 75-year-old let his inner Indian cricket fan take over and danced with all his heart to celebrate India’s win in his own unique style at the Dubai International Stadium.

The former Indian captain’s impromptu dance quickly went viral on social media, with fans absolutely loving his energy and enthusiasm. Star Sports presenter Mayanti Langer was so surprised by the moment that she moved aside with a smile to give viewers a better view of the legend’s celebration.

Robin Uthappa Captures the Iconic Moment on Camera

Meanwhile, fellow panelist Robin Uthappa captured the special moment on his phone. Gavaskar’s heartfelt celebration reminded everyone that the love for cricket never fades, no matter how old you are. Interestingly, Gavaskar had been seen dancing like a kid before, after India’s victory over Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup group match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Star Sports shared Gavaskar’s priceless dance moves on their official social media handle, where presenter Jatin Sapru couldn’t help but share his thoughts, saying, “Who is going to stop Sunny ji today?” To which Harbhajan Singh replied, “We shouldn’t stop him today because this is a wonderful moment.”

The former Indian spinner went on to add, “It was fun to watch him. He is a legend and a respected cricketer. It was for him that we all started playing cricket. We were fortunate that those trophies were in our hands. And today, he is living that same feeling again.”
