Suresh Raina Asked About the Famous Six: Former India batter Suresh Raina was recently asked to share his thoughts on MS Dhoni’s legendary 2011 World Cup-winning six. During a podcast hosted by Shubhankar Mishra, the conversation turned to that unforgettable moment.

The host pointed out that some members of the 2011 squad, including Gautam Gambhir, have spoken about Dhoni’s six in different ways. Gambhir, who is now the head coach of the Indian team, had earlier remarked, “Ek chakke ne World Cup nahi jitaya (India didn’t win the World Cup because of one six).”

Suresh Raina’s Take on “Chakke Ne Jitaya”

Reacting to the debate, Suresh Raina made his stance very clear. He said: “Chakke ne to jitaya hai, sab ko pata hai woh (We won after that six, everyone knows that).”

When the host asked about the ongoing chatter around the “ek chakke ne jitya ya nahi jitya” statement, Raina was quick to emphasize that the iconic six is etched in everyone’s memory.

Victory Belonged to the Whole Team

Suresh Raina also made it a point to highlight that India’s World Cup win was not about just one player or one moment. He credited every single person who played a part in the journey.

“The Indian team won the World Cup, irrespective of what anyone says. All the players know that this World Cup was for Team India, for the ones who prayed for us, and for Sachin paaji, who has played six World Cups but not won even one. It was for our coach, the support staff, Manek Kaka (masseur), trainers, doctors, captain, vice-captain, and for our childhood coaches,” Raina said.

Yuvraj Singh’s Heroics Remembered

While Dhoni’s six sealed the victory, Raina reminded everyone that Yuvraj Singh’s impact on the tournament was massive.

“The whole tournament was good, but I think we won the tournament because of Yuvraj Singh. The way he batted, the way he fielded and the way he gave a lot of breakthroughs. Later, we came to know that he had cancer. Hats off to the guy; he became the Man of the Tournament as well,” he added.
