Survivor Series: WarGames is less than two weeks away, and WWE is preparing one of the biggest shows the event has ever seen. Petco Park in San Diego is already being set up for a massive night packed with major matches, top stars, and high-stakes storylines. Fans are treating this year’s edition as a must-watch show, and the company is clearly aiming to make it historic.

Survivor Series has been a key event since 1987, but the 2025 version is on track to change almost everything we know about it. From a brand-new venue style to a record number of world champions competing under the same match structure, this show could mark a new era for WWE.

Here are five historic milestones Survivor Series: WarGames 2025 is set to achieve.

1. The First Survivor Series Ever Held in a Stadium

For nearly four decades, Survivor Series has always taken place inside arenas in the USA and Canada. That tradition ends this year. WWE is moving the event into a full baseball stadium for the first time.

Petco Park brings a much larger environment than anything the event has ever seen. This shift immediately puts Survivor Series one step closer to WrestleMania-style presentation and opens the door for record attendance numbers.

The men’s WarGames match is full of major names this year. Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Logan Paul, Drew McIntyre, and others will be inside the structure together.

This is the first time a WarGames match will include two current world champions AND four former world champions at the same time. No previous men’s WarGames match has come close to this level of star power. It sets the stage for the most decorated WarGames lineup in WWE history.

3. Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar Complete Their 10-Year Rivalry Arc

Reigns and Lesnar started their rivalry in 2015 at WrestleMania 31. Since then, they’ve headlined multiple major shows and created one of WWE’s longest-running top feuds.

Survivor Series 2025 marks the tenth year of their rivalry. It’s rare for any rivalry in modern wrestling to survive a full decade, especially with both stars active at the highest level. Seeing them share the cage again brings that entire story full circle.

4. First-Ever Outdoor WarGames Match

WarGames has always been held inside traditional arenas. That changes this year. For the first time ever, both WarGames matches will take place outdoors.

Fans will watch the double-cage structure under the open sky in San Diego. This adds a completely different visual and atmosphere, making this one of the most unique WarGames presentations WWE has ever attempted.

Moving the match into a stadium setting also signals that WWE considers WarGames a top-tier attraction on the same level as WrestleMania and SummerSlam.

5. Set To Be the Most Attended Survivor Series in History

Survivor Series 2025 is already breaking attendance records even before the show goes live. With over 32,000 seats filled and a setup of more than 35,000, it has officially blown past every previous edition.

All older Survivor Series events were held in arenas, which limited the audience size. This year’s outdoor setup ensures the largest crowd the November event has ever seen, making it the highest-grossing Survivor Series of all time.
