The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024, India’s leading domestic T20 competition, began its 17th edition on November 2, organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). This year, the tournament will run until December 15, showcasing the talent of domestic cricket stars across the nation.

The tournament features a packed schedule of 126 league matches spread across six cities: Rajkot, Indore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, and Vizianagaram. The top teams from the league phase will battle it out in a knockout round at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, culminating in the final match on December 15.

Teams and Format

Thirty-eight teams are participating, divided into five groups. Groups A, B, and C have eight teams each, while Groups D and E include seven teams each. The top two teams from each group will progress to the knockout stage, consisting of two pre-quarterfinals, four quarterfinals, two semifinals, and the grand finale.
