Comfortable Victory for India in the Warm-up Match against the Aussie

1st Innings – Australia posts 152/5

For the Aussies, David Warner & Captain Aaron Finch were the opening pair.

There was an early shock for Australia – as they lost 3 wickets in the first four overs. David Warner, Mitchell Marsh and Captain Aaron Finch were dismissed which lead them to be 11/3 within 3.1 overs. Ravichandran Ashwin picked the 1st wicket of Warner – which was an LBW decision in favour of India.

In the warm-up matches, there was no DRS. Today, it was India’s spin department that provided most wickets – that too early on.

Then a crucial partnership of 61 Runs between Steve Smith & Glenn Maxwell, saved the innings for Australia. Then Rahul Chahar provided a breakthrough for India, taking the wicket of Glenn Maxwell. Maxwell scored 37 (off 28 balls), Aussie was 72/4 in 11.5 overs, at that point.

However, Steve Smith was in charge – scoring his half-century. Smith, along with Marcus Stoinis’s scoring an unbeaten 41 (off 25 deliveries) took Australia to a respectable total after the early trouble they found themselves in.

Meanwhile, Steve Smith couldn’t stay until the end of the innings as Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked his wicket in the last over with one ball to spare. Steve Smith departed scoring 57 (off 48 balls).

As a result, Australia finished their innings with 152/5 on board. India’s spin department took 4 Wickets – Ravichandran Ashwin with 2, Ravindra Jadeja & Rahul Chahar with 1 each.

2nd Innings – India need 153 Runs to win

As they were set to chase the target, a very good opening partnership between KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma for India put up a 50+ runs Stand.

However, KL Rahul’s great knock came to an end, as David Warner took a good catch. India lost its 1st wicket – KL Rahul scored 39 runs off 31 balls, as Ashton Agar picked up his wicket. At this stage, India were 68/1 (9.2 overs).

Suryakumar Yadav joined Rohit Sharma in the crease. Nicknamed the Hitman – Rohit Sharma has found boundaries as he scored 60 runs off 41 balls. Rohit Sharma then retired, letting Hardik Pandya come in next.

As a result, India won the match by 8 wickets. Both batsmen remained unbeaten – Suryakumar Yadav’s 38 (off 27) and Hardik Pandya’s 14 (off 8) finished off the game.
