BWF World Tour Finals 2025: Malaysia’s world mixed doubles champions Chen Tang Jie–Toh Ee Wei and top women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan–M. Thinaah have both secured places in the semi-finals of the BWF World Tour Finals in Hangzhou, China.

Tang Jie–Ee Wei confirmed their semi-final berth after a hard-fought comeback victory over Indonesia’s Jafar Hidayatullah–Felisha Pasaribu in their second Group B match at the Olympics Sports Centre Gymnasium. The world No. 4 pair dropped the opening game 17–21 before recovering superbly to clinch the next two games 21–14, 21–15 in 64 minutes.

It was their second straight win after defeating compatriots Goh Soon Huat–Shevon Lai Jemie in their opening group match. The reigning world champions, who were silver medallists at last year’s World Tour Finals, will face China’s world No. 1 pair Feng Yan Zhe–Huang Dong Ping in their final group tie tomorrow, with the group top spot at stake. Tang Jie–Ee Wei have now beaten the Indonesian duo in all five of their meetings.

Meanwhile, national women’s doubles stars Pearly Tan–M. Thinaah also booked their place in the semi-finals with a second consecutive win in Group A. The world No. 2 pair defeated Japan’s Rin Iwanaga–Kie Nakanishi in straight games, 21–13, 21–18, in a 52-minute encounter.

Fresh from winning gold at the Thailand SEA Games, Pearly–Thinaah have shown marked improvement from last year’s BWF World Tour Finals, where they finished bottom of their group. The world championship runners-up have now beaten Kie–Rin seven times in nine meetings. They will wrap up their group campaign against another Japanese pair, Yuki Fukushima–Mayu Matsumoto, tomorrow, with a win ensuring they top the group and face the runners-up from Group B in the semi-finals.
