Suryakumar Yadav set the Dubai International Stadium ablaze with his absolute carnage of a performance on Wednesday evening. The dynamic batter came out to bat in the first innings of India’s match against Hong Kong. And in no time, Yadav mesmerized everyone with his strokes. Surya hit 4 sixes in a single over to reach the score of 68* off just 28 deliveries. The new Mr. 360°, as the fans like to call him, hit a total of 6 sixes and equal fours in his short but gigantic stay on the pitch.
Virat Kohli, who scored a half-century himself was mighty impressed watching SKY’s game from the other end. And at the end of the innings, the former Indian captain bowed down in awe of the young batter. Moreover, he also signaled to the dressing room asking “Kya hai ye” amazed by Surya’s rhythm and range of shots.

Surya Kumar Yadav walked in after the wickets of captain Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul. None of whom scored as aggressively as expected against Hong Kong. However, Surya came in ready to bring down the house as he scored exactly how everyone expected, in fact much better than that. Yadav’s confident stay also helped Kohli get to his 59* off 44 score, as he registered his first half-century in this Asia Cup.
Suryakumar Yadav became the Man of the Match for his role in India’s win against Hong Kong. And the batter expressed his reaction to Kohli’s gesture later in the post-match presentation. “That was a great heart-warming gesture for me because I had never seen that. I was wondering why he was not walking ahead, initially, he was behind me (walking off) and then I told him, let’s walk together,” said Surya.
“He is such an experienced batter, I really enjoyed batting with him. That’s what I told him after the first innings and even after the match ended…that I really enjoyed batting with you. Our plans were clear, we talked a lot out in the middle, what to do in what situation, for eg what to do in the next two balls …it is vital to have that experience out in the middle because I have not played that many T20s compared to him (Virat Kohli). So it was great fun,” Yadav further added.
