During the time of the 2018 world cup, a player got a lot of attention just by running through the defense and creating a havoc around the holding mid field was none other than the 22 year old Lucas Torreira. During the time of the World Cup ‘Lucas’ used to show immense talent, as he used to put in a lot of creative display. Guiding long balls and through balls through the backline was like child’s play for the Uruguayan. The transfer market following FIFA World Cup came as a blessing in disguise for ‘Torreira’ as he was being sold to Arsenal for a good decent amount of money. He was considered to be the missing piece in Arsenal’s puzzle that would be solving their problem’s but unfortunately it didn’t work out that way.
The following window later Arsenal signed Granit Xhaka, who even had the leadership qualities and scored excellent long range goals. Xhaka proved to be a great success under Arsenal as he is still leading the team from the front. Torreira was overshadowed by Xhaka hence wasn’t even guaranteed a spot in the starting 11. Lucas mostly used to come on as a substitute who not even played in his initial position. Lucas was being forced to play as a holding midfielder which affected his game style.
The summer transfer window of this season indicates that ‘Lucas’ would be heading to Italy probably Fiorentina , this move would be a very wise move for both the parties as it would involve monetary gain for Arsenal and ‘Lucas’ can get his playing time again. If it ages well ‘Lucas’ can be back to his prime form and play like a diamond.
