During the first test match of the series at Kingsmead, Durban, David Warner engaged in a heated verbal clash with South African wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock on the stairway leading to the dressing rooms. The ICC match referee, Jeff Crowe, reviewed the whole incident, which was captured on CCTV and charged David Warner with a Level 2 offence under Article 2.2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct. Often hailed as one of the most aggressive cricketers, Virat Kohli, prominently known for his fiery send-offs and highly-dramatic moves on the field, indulged in a heated brawl with Gautam Gambhir and Afghan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq during the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL). After defeating Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG), Virat Kohli gestured a “finger to lips” shush sign toward the Lucknow crowd which triggered an instant backlash from the supporters of Lucknow SuperGiants. Moreover, the tension on the field escalated when Kohli indulged in a verbal spat with Naveen-ul-Haq during the post-match handshake ritual.
