Over the years, a myriad of WWE superstars have landed into serious trouble due to blood-curdling controversies that left their fans shocked. In this article we will take a look at the top four WWE wrestlers who were fired due to the most unexpected controversies.
Top 4 WWE Stars Who Were Fired Due To Controversial Reasons
-
Enzo Amore
American professional wrestler Eric Arndt, popularly known by his WWE ring name “Enzo Amore”, is at the first spot in our list of top four WWE wrestlers who were fired due to controversies. Although Enzo Amore bursted into the world of WWE with no prior wrestling experience, he soon became one of the most popular wrestlers as a part of a tag team with Big Bass. Enzo Amore’s signature phrase “You can’t teach that!” captivated millions of WWE fans from all over the world.
Shockingly, Enzo Amore was at the apex of his wrestling career when things took a turn for the worse. In January 2018, Enzo Amore was confronted with brutal rape allegations by a woman named Philomena Sheahan. The whole controversy was blown out of proportion, severely tarnishing Enzo Amore’s reputation. As a consequence, the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) company officially released him. Although after a few months, Enzo was legally cleared, he failed to make a comeback in the WWE arena.

Matt Hardy
At the second spot in our list of the top four WWE wrestlers who were fired due to the most unexpected controversies, we have another American professional wrestler, Matthew Moore Hardy, popularly referred to as “Matt Hardy”. The 15-time world tag team champion, having held the WWE World Tag Team Championship six times, the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship three times, and the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship, Matt Hardy experienced an unexpected twist with the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) company.
In the late 2000s, Matt Hardy’s behaviour became shockingly violent both inside and outside the ring, which landed him in numerous ugly controversies and feuds. In order to vent his frustration, Matt Hardy reportedly started posting strange and cryptic videos on YouTube boldly discussing his issues with the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) company. As a consequence of breaching WWE’s rules due to his erratic behaviour, Matt Hardy was officially released by the WWE in October 2010.
-
Serena Deeb
Next, American professional wrestler signed to All Elite Wrestling (AEW), Serena Deeb is at the third spot in our list of the top four WWE wrestlers who were fired due to fuming controversies. Well, Serena Deeb’s stint in CM Punk’s Straight Edge Society (SES) was brief but undoubtedly memorable and moving. Entirely committed to the gimmick of playing and preaching a drug-, alcohol-, and vice-free role, Serena Deeb shaved her head off on a live television show in early 2010.
While a majority of WWE fans were moved by Serena Deeb’s boldness and courage in shaving off her head despite being a female wrestler, the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) company played an entirely unexpected move and released her officially stating that she had failed to live the “straight-edge” lifestyle. The ruthless decision of the WWE company to fire Serena Deeb left the fans agitated and a majority of them also called out the company for being “hypocrites”.

Paul London
Finally, at the fourth spot on our list of the top four WWE wrestlers who were fired due to fuming controversies, we have the high-flying sensation of the WWE, Paul London, who is still revered as one of the most daring and lethal wrestlers in the history of WWE. The reigning king of the WWE Tag Team Championships, Paul London’s WWE career came to an abrupt and bizzare after his feud with Vince McMahon.
Well, in June 2007, the WWE aired a scripted “death” storyline where Vince McMahon was supposed to enter the WWE arena in a limousine and walk into a sudden explosion. While the chairman, Vince McMahon, was walking towards the limousine in a pre-tapped segment, Paul London couldn’t control his laughter and was found visibly grinning at the chairman. Paul London’s reaction got instant attention from the fans of WWE and, as a consequence of not keeping up with the storyline, Paul London was officially fired from the company.
