The Indian Premier League has witnessed many records being made and many being broken. One of them is the highest total in an IPL knockouts, and on 26th May 2026, in GT vs RCB, the record was once again broken as Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 254 runs batting first, losing only 5 wickets, and made this match stand at the top of the list for this record.  Royal Challengers Bangalore’s whole batting unit gave its best to reach a score of 254 and dominated the Gujarat Titans’ bowling unit throughout the inning.

How RCB Made the Highest Total in an IPL Knockout?

IPL 2026 has been a blockbuster season so far. The season came to its ending phase, and also the most crucial phase of the qualifiers, and Royal Challengers gave a great show to its fans and crowd at Dharamshala Stadium against Gujarat Titans in the first inning, as from the very first ball of the match, RCB were fearlessly hitting boundaries and sixes. 23 sixes came from the innings along with 24 fours.

Captain’s knock by Rajat Patidar’s 93 not-out in 33 balls, including 9 sixes and 5 fours with a strike rate of 281, was a significant contribution from his bat to secure the record of the highest total in an IPL knockout. In the early overs, Virat Kohli scored 43(25), Krunal Pandya scored 43(28), and gave a crucial contribution, with captain Rajat Patidar playing an anchoring knock. The innings ended with 40 runs coming from the last two overs, and Rajat Patidar and Jitesh Sharma, with his 15 in 5 balls, gave a small but important contribution to the score.
