In ICC Women’s T20 World Cup history, there have been many records, but one of the most unwanted records, and a record which no team would want to be associated with, is the record for the lowest totals in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. The teams that hold places in this record are the Bangladesh Women’s Cricket Team, Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team, and Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket Team in the top five.
In the 3rd match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2018, between WI-W and BAN-W, on 9th November 2018 at Providence Stadium, Georgetown, in the first innings, the West Indies Women’s Team came to bat and set a total of 106 runs with the loss of 8 wickets. Jahanara Alam bowled at correct lengths and at the right spots and took 3 wickets, conceding 23 runs in 4 overs with an economy of 5.75, and Rumana Ahmed took 2 wickets in 4 overs and gave 16 runs at an economy of 4, and stopped WI-W at only 106.
In the second innings, Bangladesh Women’s Cricket Team, Shamima Sultana got out on the 6th ball of the 1st over and later the upper order of BAN-W got out in just 9 overs and no one made more than 8 runs in that innings, and this was only possible because of a West Indies gunner bowler Deandra Dottin who took 5 wickets conceding only 5 runs in 3.4 overs, and she also holds the record of highest wicket-taker in an innings in the Women’s T20 World Cup, and she created history and West Indies Women’s Cricket Team won the match by a huge 60-run margin and BAN-W got all out on the score of 46 in just 14.4 overs.
