Free Agents in football currently: Although the summer transfer window ended a couple of months ago, clubs and their management are actively eyeing for players that suit their squad. Not just that, they also aim to buy on the cheap .
With most top players signing new contacts during the summer window, there are still some free agents up for grabs. In this article, we look at the top five footballers who are currently available as free agents.
Serge Aurier
Most recent club: Galatasaray Serge Aurier’s career took an unfortunate turn when he was still playing for Paris Saint-Germain. After that, despite four years with Tottenham, the Ivorian international made stints with Villarreal, Nottingham Forest and, more recently, Galatasaray.
Aurier spent four years in Ankara, during which the 31-year-old made just four appearances before finding himself without a contract. He is one of the top free agents in football right now.
Sergio Ramos
Most recent club: Sevilla Sergio Ramos was one of the few consistent performers for Sevilla and is currently a free agent after leaving the club. Despite his age of 38, Ramos still made an impact in the field with his defensive prowess. He appeared in 28 matches last season in La Liga, scoring three goals. It would be interesting to see if the defender chooses retirement over another contract.

Dele Alli
Most recent club: Everton Dele Alli was part of the Champions League final in 2019, but has failed to find minutes recently. He tried to revive his career with Everton last season but did not get a chance to play even for a single minute. Eventually the club did not extend the contract with the midfielder. The 28-year-old is now trying to find his way back on the pitch in the coming months.

Joel Matip
Most recent club: Liverpool Premier League and Champions League winner Joel Matip has chosen part ways from Liverpool, having fallen out of favour over the past 24 months. The 32-year-old made just 14 appearances in all competitions last season and was mostly out of action due to injuries.
Matip is looking to join another club as a free agent, also having joined Liverpool from Schalke in the same manner back in 2016. The center-back is capable of stellar performances.
