Top Highest Team Totals In IPL History: Indian Premier League (IPL) has been a trailblazing tournament in the T20 cricket league. With star international players and lucrative prize money, the competition is one of the most viewed sporting events in the world.
Since its inception in 2008, IPL has witnessed nail-biting, high-scoring matches, with batters consistently setting the bar high.
The past few years, in particular, have seen numerous batting records, including the highest scores by teams in T20s, broken and re-broken several times. In fact, eight of the top nine highest team totals in IPL were recorded in the 2024 season. This could well be due to the introduction of the “impact player” rule.
Sunrisers Hyderabad ranks first in the list of highest team totals in IPL in 2024 when they posted 287/3 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. It is the highest total by any T20 franchise across the globe.
In reply, RCB managed only 262/7. This score is the joint-highest IPL score by any team batting second. Punjab Kings’ 262/2 against Kolkata Knight Riders, also in IPL 2024, however, was a successful chase.

SRH, in fact, have three entries in the top four highest scores by teams in the IPL list. Their 266/7 is the fourth-highest total, scored against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024 after a 131-run stand in just 6.1 overs by openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma.
Kolkata Knight Riders recorded the third-highest score – 272/7 – in IPL 2024-against Delhi Capitals.
Interestingly, IPL 2024 also saw the most number of 200-plus scores ever recorded in any single season. To put it into perspective, the inaugural IPL season in 2008 saw the 200-mark breached on 11 occasions while in 2024, it occurred a whopping 41 times.
RCB’s highest total 263/5 against the now-defunct Pune Warriors in IPL 2013 stood for almost 11 years before SRH surpassed it against MI.
