Former Spurs midfielder Jamie Redknapp believes that Spurs chief Daniel Levy in under ‘a lot of pressure’ following Sunday’s EFL Cup final defeat. He believes that it is important for the chief to get a right manager for the club. Jose Mourinho was sacked by the club just before the final of Carabao Cup. It raised a lot of eyebrows as he was the one who took the team that far in the EFL Cup.

Ryan Mason was maid the interim coach of the club. He had just 1 game experience before going against Manchester City into a cup final. Spurs fans were already angry with the chief following the European Super League debacle, it was further infuriated with this defeat.

Manchester City in the whole game was dominant. They created a lot of chances but failed with Aymeric Laporte’s late header, the only goal as Guardiola’s side secured a fourth successive League Cup triumph. Manchester City won 1-0 against Tottenham Hotspurs. This game extended Spurs’ 13-year wait for a trophy.

Jamie Redknapp said on Sky Sports – “There’s a lot of pressure now on the board to get it right because they’ve made decisions that haven’t worked out. It didn’t work out with Jose Mourinho, they hired a manager that sort of went away from the Spurs way of playing in terms of the style and the Spurs fans didn’t like it”

Redknapp also added – “Now, the next manager coming in has got to be the right one – they’ve got to get this right otherwise the pressure will really grow. I think everyone will say: ‘Would Jose have a difference if he was here for this game?’, but it didn’t have a different feel to when they played at the Etihad a couple of months ago. There was a gulf in class then and I think it was pretty much the same.”
