TSK vs MINY: In an exciting, high-octane battle of MLC 2025, Texas Super Kings (TSK) charged their way into the eliminator rounds with a decisive 39-run victory over MI New York (MINY).
Paced by an electric 100 from Faf du Plessis, an explosive cameo from Donovan Ferreira, and a surgical bowling performance from Akeal Hosein, TSK dominated MINY in the much-anticipated TSK vs MINY clash.
Du Plessis Anchors TSK With Second Century of MLC 2025
Batting first, TSK got off to a rocky start when Smit Patel was dismissed LBW by George Linde with the score of only three on the board, but skipper Faf du Plessis quickly got into the act, smashing 16 runs off Ehsan Adil in the third over, of which two of them were sixes.
He carried on the assault with sixes off Linde and Boult and took his fifty in 21 deliveries. Even though the run-rate dipped in the middle of the innings, du Plessis fired the momentum again with more big shots, two of those being sixes in Linde’s last over.
Ferreira Provides Late Sparks for TSK
Following a short reprieve, Donovan Ferreira came in along with du Plessis and changed gears instantaneously. The duo contributed rapid runs towards the end of the overs. Ferreira blasted 20 runs off Adil in the 18th over, while du Plessis hit a century with a mighty pull shot.
The last over was a melee, as Rushil Ugarkar delivered five back-to-back wides, tying an unwanted T20 record. Ferreira capitalized on the free balls, hitting a six to reach his 20-ball fifty, one of the fastest in the history of MLC 2025. TSK concluded their innings at 223/4.
MINY Struggle in Chase Despite Pollard’s Heroics
In reply, MI New York began cautiously and suffered an early blow as Nandre Burger dismissed Nicholas Pooran. Then came Akeal Hosein, who produced a match-defining spell, including a wicket-maiden and the scalps of Quinton de Kock and Tajinder Singh, leaving MINY reeling at 75/4 by the 11th over.
Although Kieron Pollard launched a late counterattack of a scorching 70 from 39 balls, with three successive sixes against Noor Ahmad, the damage was already done. The highlight of the MINY innings arrived in the 14th over, but again, momentum was brought to a stop with a sharp catch by Ferreira and death bowling with discipline by TSK.

Ferreira still made his mark on the game with a fantastic catch to dismiss an 88-run partnership. Burger returned to bowl Pollard in the penultimate over, crushing the comeback hopes. MINY eventually finished on 184/9, 39 runs short.
