PKL 12: U Mumba Retains Sunil Kumar As Captain

Pro Kabaddi League returns for its 12th season and fans are eagerly waiting for the actions to kick-off. Starting for August 29, the PKL 12 is set to fascinate audiences with star players and young faces ready to shine on.

Ahead of the upcoming season, U Mumba have retained Sunil Kumar as their captain for the PKL 12. The announcement was made on social media.

In the previous season, he guided the franchise to 12 wins, nine losses, and a couple of ties in 23 encounters.

Sunil Kumar is the most successful captain in PKL history with 77 wins across six editions. He was first named as the captain of Gujarat Giants in PKL Season 6 and led the franchise through three seasons before switching to Jaipur Pink Panthers.  He led the Panthers to their second PKL title in Season 9 and a semi-final finish in Season 10.

In the 11th season, he was appointed as the captain of U Mumba, leading the franchise to a playoff finish.

U Mumba finished fifth in the points table at the end of the league stage with 71 points and a score difference of 16. They lost to Patna Pirates with a margin of 31-23 in Eliminator 2, leading to their ultimate exit from the league.

As a player, Sunil Kumar earned 54 tackle points in 23 matches in PKL Season 11. He fetched 8 Super Tackles and three High 5s from a total of 110 tackles last edition.
