UEFA Champions League Semi-Final PSG Vs Aston Villa 2nd Leg Report:
Unai Emery’s Aston Villa produced the ultimate test for PSG as they almost staged a comeback after going 5 goals down in the tie. Villa park has seen many good moments in the last few years but this has to be the best display from the team at the European stage.
PSG Vs Aston Villa 2nd Leg 1st Half
The game started with a great pace from the game and both the teams were ready to go for it. Aston Villa started asserting pressure up on the pitch but PSG lethal on the counters with pace from each wing. The first clear chance fell to Hakimi when the save from Emi Martinez fell onto his path and the Moroccan was happy to oblige.
This goal did not disturb Villa plans who still were adamant on pressing up on the pitch but failed again miserably to another counter this time the other full-back, Nuno Mendes with a calm finish in the 27th minute.

This goal ignited a spark in the villa players as they equalised just after 7 minutes from the Mendes goal. Youri Tielemans decided to go for the goal from outside the box, thanks to a big Willian Pacho deflection it wrong-footed the keeper and found the net. This gave hope to Villa fans and the players who could feel the game going deep.
PSG Vs Aston Villa 2nd Leg 2nd Half
The 2nd half started with a determined Aston Villa trying to break down the PSG defence. PSG were clear in their tactics as they comfortably sat deep and were looking to work on counters whenever they had the chance.
After an offside goal from Dembele, John McGinn produced a moment of magic on his own in the 55th minute where he took the ball from the half of the pitch and ran with it before producing a vicious shot that was just unsavable.
This breathed life into the match and it looked like Aston Villa were still dreaming. The crowd was electric and such was the resonance that another goal was scored in the next 3 minutes.
Ezri Konsa slotted the ball in the near corner from a well-worked assist by Marcus Rashford. This goal brought Villa back into the game as there was 1 goal between the teams and it actually looked like Aston Villa could complete this miraculous comeback.
After this goal, Luis Enrique changed the tactics and brought on some reinforcements on the pitch which shifted the game towards PSG’s favor. Aston Villa were going all out but PSG maintained their structure and were resilient in their defense.

This resolute last half hour saw PSG advance in the UEFA Champions league with a narrow aggregate score of 5-4. Unai Emery was almost there but just couldn’t get that last goal. PSG will now face either Real Madrid or Arsenal in the Champions league semi-final.
