PSG Defeat Arsenal In A Semi-Final Thriller: Will Battle Inter Milan For Their Maiden Champions League Trophy

PSG have done it again, This will be their 2nd Champions league final after the 2020 defeat to Bayern Munich. They have succeeded in beating Arsenal in the semi-final with an aggregate score of 3-1. They won the match at Parc Des Princes with a score of 2-1, thanks to goals from Fabian Ruiz and Achraf Hakimi.

Arsenal scored through Bukayo Saka but could not create more lethal chances to appear back in the game. 

Arsenal started the 1st half with a bang as they were ready to cancel out the 1st leg advantage within the first 15 minutes but Gianluigi Donnarumma continued his 1st leg performance. He was up to the task and parried away shots from Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka. Arsenal was all over the PSG penalty area but the only thing missing was the end product.

In the 27th minute, Fabian Ruiz struck a thunderous strike and deposited a volley in the David Raya goal against the run of play. The strike took the aggregate score to 2-0 and it looked steep for Arteta’s men.

In the 66th minute, a penalty was given to PSG after a hand ball by Lewis-Skelly inside the penalty area. But David Raya stood his ground and saved the Vitinha penalty, keeping the Gunners in the game.

The final blow came in the 72nd minute when Hakimi arrived into the box and struck a beautiful shot to take aggregate to an unavoidable 3-0 lead.

It looked like game over but 4 minutes later Saka scored one back for Arsenal and the dream for a Remontada was alive but once again timely substitutions and great bench strength of PSG allowed the game to run out smoothly without any more trouble. 

PSG are in the final and will be facing Inter Milan in Munich.
