The world’s number 2 team Belgium was thrashed by the Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League game on Friday night. The Netherlands stand 7th in the World football team rankings. It was a shocking result for Belgium fans. Barcelona’s forward Memphis Depay scored a brace whereas Bergwijn and Dumfries scored 1 goal each against Denmark on Friday.
Dutch was leading in both halves. Only one goal was scored in the first half of the game which was hit by Tottenham Hotspur right-winger Steven Bergwijn. Since the second half started, Netherlands had more possession and they created more chances than Belgium. Barcelona’s forward Memphis Depay scored his first goal in the 51st minute and second in the 65th minute to complete his brace.
Inter Milan’s right-wing-back Dumfries also had a goal which came in the 61st minute. Despite giving an all round effort, Dutch’s men couldn’t keep a clean sheet as Belgium striker Michy Batshuayi who came off the bench in the 67th minute replacing Axel Witsel scored an amazing goal just before the final whistle. That goal from Batshuayi made the final score 1-4.
