Messi scored his second and third goal in a PSG shirt as PSG comeback from behind to win 3-2 against RB Leipzig.
After few end-to-end early exchanges, PSG opened the scoring in the 9th minute through Mbappe. The French superstar drove to Leipzig’s penalty area before slotting the ball home at the near post.
PSG created a few more good chances in the first half. However, they were wasteful in their finishing and Leipzig too were stubborn in defending.
Subsequently, RB Leipzig equalized in the 28th minute after Andre Silva tucked home a cross from Angelino from the left side.
Both teams went into the halftime break level on terms.
However, the defensive frailties of Pochesttino’s side were evident as his team was ripped apart time after time by Jesse Marsch’s side. And they took the lead in the 57th minute after another beautiful cross from Angelino. This time the cross was met by Mukiele to give the German side the lead.
Messi scores a brace
PSG did not have Neymar in the match after he suffered an adductor injury on the international break. With Neymar out, it was up to Messi and Kylian Mbappe to get the Paris side going. And the two just did that.
Mbappe driving into the Leipzig penalty area played a perfect cutback to Messi, whose initial attempt was deflected onto the post. However, the Argentine was onto the ball before Gulasci can make a move to level the scoring. Lionel Messi scored his first brace for Paris Saint Germain with a penalty in the 74th minute. Once again it was Mbappe doing the hard yards and the Frenchman was brought down inside the box illegally.
The Argentine took the penalty and did a panenka on Gulasci in a cool manner to put PSG ahead in the game once more. The Parisians held onto the lead to win the game. PSG is still unbeaten in the Champions League group stage this season. They drew their first game against Brugge before going on to win against Man City in the second match.
