USA have kept their hopes of making it to the Super Eight stage of the 2026 T20 World Cup alive by registering a 31-run win against Namibia in the 26th match of the tournament played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
USA vs NAM: The Decision
Monank Patel, the captain of the United States of America, decided to bat first after winning the toss, and the batters proved their captain right by making full use of the good batting conditions that were on offer at the venue. The effort with the bat was led by captain Monanak Patel, who scored a half-century and added 68 runs for the first wicket with Shayan Jahangir.
USA vs NAM: The Comeback
Namibia struck back when it appeared that the USA will post an above-par total on the board and pick up a couple of wickets in the space of 14 runs, meaning that the USA found themselves at 103 for 3 from 89 for 1 at one stage. The team was in desperate need of a partnership, and that’s when Sanjay Krishnmurthi and Milind Kumar came together and steadied the ship.

Krishnamurthy and Milind formed an 87-run partnership for the fourth wicket, thereby helping USA post a challenging total of 199 runs, with Krishnamurthy becoming the second batter to score a half-century in the game.
USA vs NAM: The Bowling
Namibia would feel that they were not upto the mark as far as the team’s bowling performance is concerned, which the USA batters took full advantage of. The only bowler who showed some sort of control by giving away 22 runs in his quota of four overs was Willen Myberg. He was one of the reasons that the team was able to restrict USA to 199 runs, which at one stage looked like could go over 220-230, which would have been out of reach.

Like USA, Namibia also got off to a good start while chasing a target of 200 runs with the openers adding 54 runs for the first wicket in 5.2 overs, keeping the team firmly in the chase, which was followed by 45 run partnership for the second wicket before USA scripted a comeback.

Namibian batters failed to get their eye in after losing the first wicket in the form of Louren Steenkamp, Jan Frylinck and Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton and lost two wickets in 11 runs, which, despite scoring 45 runs in the next 5.1 overs, was enough for USA to register a 31-run win.

USA have given itself a chance to qualify for the next round with this win and would now hope for Pakistan to lose their remaining two matches by a big margin.
