In the middle of the IPL 2026 final buzz, all eyes were on the Orange Cap race. Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill, who is second on the IPL 2026 Orange cap list, required just 55 runs to surpass the Rajasthan Royals (RR) teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. However, in the final match, which is currently underway at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Gill looked in good touch but could manage only 10 runs off 8 deliveries. As a result, he fell 45 runs short of surpassing the young prodigy in the Orange Cap standings.

Meanwhile, another player standing between Sooryavanshi and the Orange Cap was Sai Sudharsan. However, Sudharsan met a similar fate, managing to score 12 off 12 balls. As a result, he fell 55 runs short of overtaking Sooryavanshi in the race for the Orange Cap.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is the winner of IPL 2026 Orange Cap

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi ended his IPL 2026 campaign with a total of 776 runs in 16 matches at a strike rate of 237.30, which included one century and five half-centuries. The Rajasthan Royals teenager has now effectively sealed the IPL 2026 Orange Cap, with both Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan failing to surpass his tally.

Virat Kohli is the only other player in the Orange Cap race who is set to bat in the final. However, he would need 177 runs to overtake Sooryavanshi’s total, which is an impossible feat in a T20 innings. As a result, Sooryavanshi is the undisputed winner of the IPL 2026 Orange Cap.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi had a breakthrough IPL 2026 season as he played a vital role in powering his side to seal a playoff spot. His explosive batting injected momentum into the side as RR finished their campaign in a respectable third place, narrowly missing the final but earning widespread praise for their spirited performance.

Coming to the match, Rajat Patidar invited the host to bat first after winning the toss. Gujarat Titans started on a shaky note as both their opener – Gill and Sudarshan failed to deliver. Later, Rasikh Salam dismissed Nishant Sindhu for 20; now Jos Buttler will have to steady the innings and lead the batting charge, or the match will go in RCB’s favour. At the time of writing, GT are 63/3 after 10 overs.
