IPL 2026: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi did something last night that no one could have ever imagined. He washed up the Sunrisers Hyderabad and clinched a historic win for his team. Vaibhav’s knock sparks a buzz throughout the internet. Most importantly, he breaks Chris Gayle’s world record of most sixes in a single IPL season. Earlier Crish Gayle used to hold the record of hitting the most sixes in a single season, and yesterday against SRH, he surpassed Gayle, and now he has become the New Sixer king of the T20 tournament.

Vaibhav: The new Sixer King

In IPL season 4 back in 2012, Chris Gayle had hit 59 sixes in a single IPL season. At that time, no one ever imagined that this record could be broken. But yesterday, the 15-year-old boy from Bihar blew the minds of every cricket fan. He played a sensational inning of 97 runs where he hit 5 boundaries and 12 deadly sixes, after ending his inning, he surpassed the Universe boss’s unbreakable record of hitting the most sixes. Also, he became the first player across world cricket to hit the most sixes in a T20 tournament.

Vaibhav was one shot away from rewriting IPL history

Vaibhad made 97 runs off just 29 balls, which means he was just one hit away from another record of Universe Boss Chris Gayle, but he just missed it. Chris Gayle holds the record of the fastest century in the history of the Indian Premier League. Back in 2013, Chris Gayle set a world record of hitting the fastest IPL century using 30 balls against the Pune Warriors Indians. In that inning, Gayle hit 17 sixes and 12 fours. Sooryavanshi missed it with a narrow margin of just 3 runs, But the way he has played is the biggest threat for all teams in the upcoming matches of the Qualifier round.
