In an incredible show of power hitting, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi of the Rajasthan Royals made history in the IPL by scoring a century in just 35 balls against the Gujarat Titans.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi Smashes Record-Breaking Century
While cricket fans and legends around the world were amazed by his performance, former Indian boxer and Olympic medalist Vijender Singh caused a stir by raising doubts about the player’s age.
As praise poured in for the young star, Vijender took to social media and hinted at possible age fraud in the ongoing IPL 2025.

Without taking any names, Vijender Singh dropped a sarcastic comment on X (formerly Twitter), just days after 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi hit a stunning century against Gujarat Titans, hinting that some players might be lowering their age to enter cricket.
Although the BJP MP did not directly mention Suryavanshi, the timing of his post made it clear who the comment was likely aimed at. Vijender wrote on X: “Bhai aaj kal umar choti ker ke cricket me bhe khelne lage” (Have players started reducing their age in cricket too?).

Vijender Defends His Statement Amid Backlash
After facing backlash on social media, where users reminded the former boxer of controversies from his own playing days, Olympic medalist Vijender Singh stood by his statement. Responding with another post on X, he wrote: “Sachi kehna sukhi rahna 👊🏽” (Speak the truth, live in peace).

At just 14 years and 32 days old, Vaibhav Suryavanshi made history by scoring a stunning 101 off 38 balls against Gujarat Titans, becoming the youngest player to hit a century in both IPL and T20 cricket.
It was also the fastest century by an Indian in IPL history and the second-fastest overall, behind Chris Gayle’s 30-ball ton in 2013.
While there’s no proof of wrongdoing by Vaibhav, age fraud has been a long-standing issue in Indian sports. In the past, the BCCI has banned players like Rasikh Salam, Manjot Kalra, and Nitish Rana for age-related violations.
Vaibhav will next be in action on May 1 as Rajasthan Royals take on Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025 Match 50 at the Wankhede. He replaced the injured Sanju Samson and was bought for ₹1.1 crore at the IPL 2025 auction. He had earlier hit a six on the very first ball of his IPL debut against Lucknow Super Giants on April 19.
