Valencia Marathon 2025: Athletes to watch
Peres Jepchirchir (Kenya)
Fresh off her 2025 World Championships marathon gold in Tokyo, Jepchirchir returns for her second marathon of the year aiming to lower her personal best. The Olympic champion and multiple global medalist has shown extraordinary resilience—her victory over Tigist Assefa in hot, humid Tokyo demonstrated her ability to excel in tough conditions. Valencia’s fast course could set the stage for something special.
Joyciline Jepkosgei (Kenya)
The 2019 New York City Marathon champion (PB 2:16:24) comes in as one of the strongest contenders. Known for her smooth pacing and tactical racing, Jepkosgei remains a constant threat on any major start line.
Amane Beriso (Ethiopia)
The 2023 Valencia Marathon winner and the current course record holder (2:14:58) returns to a route she knows better than anyone. Beriso’s ability to run aggressively from the front makes her one of the biggest dangers in the field.
