Right after the 2025 Valencia MotoGP season finale, teams and riders didn’t waste any time. They hit the track again for the official Valencia MotoGP test 2025, gearing up for the 2026 season with full focus. The day started damp, causing delays and pushing the test session till 5:30 PM with no lunch break, tough but necessary for the teams to squeeze in every second on the Valencia circuit.
Valencia MotoGP Test 2025: As It Happened
Fabio Quartararo kicked off the pace around 2:30 PM. Riding the Yamaha Inline M1 before switching to the V4 model, he set the fastest time early on. Yamaha riders had access to both Inline and V4 machines, testing their limits. However, the top spot didn’t last long because Raul Fernandez, Sunday’s race runner-up, took over at 3:30 PM for Trackhouse Aprilia and ended up leading from 4:30 PM to the end of the test session, clocking the fastest lap at 1:29.373.
Marco Bezzecchi, the factory Aprilia rider, was a close rival, pushing Fernandez hard and even briefly taking the lead. Bezzecchi was testing out new aerodynamic parts, cleverly hidden in black and white zebra stripes, including various rear wing designs aiming to boost performance.
This Valencia MotoGP test 2025 day was special for Toprak Razgatlioglu, the triple WorldSBK champion and new Pramac Yamaha rider. It was his first official MotoGP test after a private run at Aragon the previous weekend. He focused on the Yamaha V4 bike and finished as the second-best Yamaha rider, just behind Quartararo.
The Valencia MotoGP test 2025 also welcomed Diogo Moreira, the reigning Moto2 champion and a 2026 rookie, making his MotoGP debut with LCR Honda, expanding the new talent pool entering the premier class.
Unfortunately, reigning MotoGP champion Marc Marquez was absent due to shoulder injuries and won’t return until the next official test in February 2026 at Sepang, Malaysia. Nicolo Bulega substituted for Marquez in the factory Ducati team, finishing eighth fastest ahead of team-mate Francesco Bagnaia, who had a late crash. Franco Morbidelli missed the test due to a hand injury from a bizarre accident, with Moto2 rider Celestino Vietti stepping in for him.
Honda moved up to concession rank C alongside KTM and Aprilia, while Yamaha retained its D status, allowing private tests with race riders and staying on track for more runs on Wednesday.
