Venus Williams, who is featuring currently at the Washington open, has received a wild card main draw entry into the Cincinnati Open for her age-defying agility.
The seven-time Grand Slam singles champion, who returned to WTA Tour after 16-month absence, became the oldest player to win a WTA singles match since 2004 when she beat world number 35 Peyton Stearns at the Washington Open on Tuesday.
Williams, who will play Polish fifth seed Magdalena Frech in the next round in Washington on Wednesday, previously declined a wild card entry invite for Indian Wells earlier this year.
The main draw of the Cincinnati Open begins on August 7. This tournament is a tune-up to the US Open–the final Grand Slam of the year.
Venus Williams has won 49 singles titles in her WTA career, including seven at Grand Slam tournaments and the gold medal at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. She spent 11 weeks as the WTA’s number one player in the world.
The American has also won 22 doubles titles, including 14 at Grand Slams and is a three-time Olympic doubles gold medalist, all with her younger sister, Serena.
This will be the 11th appearance by Williams at the Cincinnati Open. She owns a 12-9 record at the tournament, having reached the semifinals in 2012 and quarterfinals in 2019.

This will be McNally’s fifth appearance at her hometown tournament, and first since 2022.
The women’s field for the Cincinnati Open is headlined by its past two winners and the top-ranked players in the world, defending champion and world number one Aryna Sabalenka and second-ranked Coco Gauff, the 2023 champion.
