Vince McMahon’s stake in WWE after the recent acquisition by TKO

WWE co-founder and former CEO, Vince McMahon resigned as WWE CEO and chairman in June 2022. The decision came after allegations against him, including allegations of secret agreements with former WWE employees. To help with the sale of the company, he returned to WWE in early 2023.

In 2023, WWE merged with UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) and this formed TKO Group. Following this merger, McMahon was appointed the executive chairman of TKO Group Holdings. However, in January 2024, he resigned from his position at TKO due to trafficking and assault allegations against him. This was the first time WWE was not completely under the control of the McMahon family.

Vince McMahon’s stake in TKO Group Holdings

Vince McMahon may not be involved in WWE’s day-to-day operations, but he remains a major shareholder in TKO Group Holdings. The group is the parent company of WWE and UFC. Even though Vince McMahon has sold some stake after his resignation, he still owned 8,021,405 shares as of September 2024. Meanwhile, he has not yet given any indication of selling the remaining stock.

According to Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, since February 2025, McMahon’s stake in TKO has decreased. The reason for this was TKO’s acquisition of Professional Bull Riders, On Location and IMG, which was done as an all-stock deal. This increased Endeavor’s stake in TKO to 61%, while Vince McMahon’s stake decreased to 4.06%.

McMahon Family’s Remaining Stake

The current value of McMahon’s remaining equity in TKO is estimated to be around $1 billion. According to recent documentary filings, other members of the McMahon family also hold shares in TKO Group Holdings. Stephanie McMahon owns 0.98%, Linda McMahon owns 0.29% and Paul “Triple H” Levesque is estimated to own approximately 0.02%.

Vince McMahon’s WWE Connection

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, Vince McMahon occasionally watches WWE programming. When asked about McMahon’s reaction to WWE’s current product, Sean said, “I haven’t heard any information about his feelings, but he does watch WWE sometimes, that’s what I understand.”
