Injury Scare for Virat Kohli Ahead Of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Final: India will face New Zealand in the final of the Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Led by Rohit Sharma, India will aim to win their second ICC title in less than a year, after winning the T20 World Cup in June 2024.
India Set to Face New Zealand in Champions Trophy 2025 Final
So far in the tournament, Rohit and his team have been in great form. They won all three of their group stage matches against Bangladesh, Pakistan, and New Zealand, and then beat Australia in the semi-final.
India has received a major injury scare ahead of the final, as star batter Virat Kohli was reportedly hit on his knee during a practice session.

According to Geo TV, Kohli was struck by a fast bowler’s delivery. He stopped training immediately and was attended to by the physio, who applied a spray and wrapped the area with a bandage. Although Kohli didn’t bat after the injury, the Indian coaching staff reassured that the injury is not serious and he will be available to play in the final.
Virat Kohli’s 84 in India’s semifinal win over Australia in the Champions Trophy felt a bit unfinished, despite guiding the team to victory. Although he didn’t score a hundred, which would have been his 25th in a chase, Kohli’s knock still showcased key strengths.

First, he handled spinners well, a challenge that has troubled him in the past, especially against England’s Adil Rashid and Bangladesh’s Rishad Hossain.
Second, his fifty showed a strong determination to overcome an opponent that has caused India and him many past disappointments. It felt like a sign that Kohli is ready to continue battling and reach new milestones.
Kohli Overcomes Spinner Challenge in Key Semifinal Knock
Kohli’s success came after hard work, spending extra time in the nets to improve after his dismissal by Bangladesh’s Rishad Hossain. He handled Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed well but faced a tougher challenge from Australia’s Adam Zampa, especially on the slow Dubai pitch.
Kohli’s usual counterattack worked against Zampa, but in this match, he took a more measured approach, scoring 23 off 24 balls against Zampa and 12 off 9 balls against Tanveer Sangha. It wasn’t spectacular, but effective in chasing 265, even though Kohli eventually fell to Zampa.
India will hope Kohli carries this form into the Champions Trophy 2025 final.
