Virat Kohli, a once-in-a-generation cricketer, has been playing for India since 2008 and has achieved many great things in his career. He has scored over 25,000 runs in international cricket and more than 8,000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Virat Kohli’s Focus on Fitness and Performance
Now, at 36, as he nears the end of his career, Kohli has shared his plans for life after cricket.
During an interaction at the RCB Innovation Lab’s Indian Sports Summit in Bengaluru, Virat Kohli said:
“I actually don’t know what I will be doing post-retirement. Recently, I asked a teammate the same question and got the same reply. Yeah, but maybe a lot of travelling,”

Kohli’s long cricket career is no surprise, thanks to his focus on fitness over the years. He has been a leader in promoting fitness within the Indian team. Whether it’s taking quick singles or running in the outfield to save crucial runs, Kohli has never let the physical challenges of aging affect his performance. The Delhi-born cricketer further said:
“You can do a lot of things in your thirties which you can do in your twenties.”
The 2028 Olympics will be held in Los Angeles, USA, and for the first time, cricket will be included in the event. Kohli believes the Indian team has a strong chance of winning a medal and is excited to see how the sport develops for the Olympics. Speaking about the same, Virat Kohli said:
“Cricket being part of the Olympics is a great chance for us. Coming back with a medal will be a great thing for the team.”
No Retirement Plans Yet: Virat Kohli Reassures Fans
Reflecting on his recent struggles on Australian soil, Kohli stated: “I might not have another Australia tour in me, so I am at peace with whatever happened in the past.”
Despite the rumors, Kohli clarified that he is not thinking about retirement right now, stressing that he still enjoys playing cricket. “Don’t get nervous. I’m not making any announcements. As of now, everything is fine. I still love playing the game,” he reassured his fans. The star batsman also mentioned that he no longer aims for milestones, but instead focuses on playing for the “pure joy” of the sport.
