In the first two Test matches of the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series against Australia, former India captain Virat Kohli has struggled mightily at the plate. India was bowled out for just 109 on Day 1 of the third Test on Wednesday at the Holkar Stadium in Indore, with Virat Kohli leading the way with 22 runs (March 1).

With a personal best of 44 runs in Delhi, Kohli has only amassed 98 runs in the first three Test matches. However, as India took the field following lunch on Day 1, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter entertained the crowd. The crowd was mesmerised by Kohli’s dancing during Australia’s opening innings.

After Day 1 concluded, Team India’s batting coach Vikram Rathour addressed the media. Rathour denied that the batters had deviated from their original plans when asked.

“Really not. The strategy was to rely on your defence, watch for loose balls, and score as many runs as you could. One of those days when everything you did was at the mercy of others (of fielders). We essentially had a bad day, Rathour said on Wednesday.

In the Delhi Test, Australia engaged in ultra-aggressive cricket. On Wednesday, players like Ravindra Jadeja, Shreyas Iyer, and Rohit Sharma all fell while attempting their strokes. Cheteshwar Pujara attempted to score on a rocket before abruptly turning around from wide of the target.

“The length was misjudged in that case. When Pujara noticed a ball that was outside of the stumps, he anticipated it to come more straightly but it instead turned. It was an error in judgement, which can occur. This is how Rohit bats; he likes to challenge the opposition and score runs. The batting coach said, “Most days it works, but today it didn’t.

At stumps on Day 1, Australia and India are tied at 156 for 4, with Peter Handscomb and all-rounder Cameron Green in the middle. After winning the first two Tests in Nagpur and Delhi, India has a 2-0 series lead.
