There were several enticing moments during the IPL 2026 match between the Chennai Super Kings and the Sunrisers Hyderabad, but there was one highlight of this match. There was an argument that seemed to be a bit aggressive on the field between Sanju Samson and Heinrich Klaasen.

Umpires intervened in the heated argument to settle down the players and the environment at M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, as the heated altercation between them looked a bit out of control.

Sanju Samson Produces Brilliant Stumping to Dismiss Klaasen

This incident happened when Sunrisers Hyderabad were batting in the 14th over during their chase and when Noor Ahmad, the left-arm chinaman of Chennai Super Kings, bowled an excellent googly to Heinrich Klaasen.

Klaasen tried to hit it hard for a boundary but totally misread the ball. When he missed the ball, he tried to find his balance, but his back foot slightly lifted out of the crease. Due to the fast reflexes at the stumps of Sanju Samson, he dislodged the bails and appealed for a dismissal.

This lightning stumping of Sanju Samson was compared to the legendary wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni as he used to do the same for CSK behind the stumps. Heinrich Klaasen got out while playing an attacking shot of 47 runs in only 26 balls.

Heated Exchange Between Sanju Samson and Klaasen

This altercation happened immediately after the decision of 3rd umpire in the DRS where Klasses was declared out. Right before returning to the pavilion, he went up to Sanju Samson and had a brief chat with him as he was not happy with the celebration Sanju did after stumping him. Sanju on the other hand also didn’t hold it back and replied.

Klaasen was playing with a great strike rate but was given out and was visibly frustrated as he walked back past Sanju who he confronted again, and what started out as a quick chat developed into a heated argument between the two of them. Their body language was evident that both are looking aggressive and having a heated argument at the ground.

Umpires Forced to Step In

As the dispute was getting escalated too far, the umpires at ground were forced to step in and ensure that the matter did not proceed any further. The umpires first isolated the players and instructed Sanju Samson to shift focus on the game rather than the argument.

On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings’ all-rounder Shivam Dube tried to settle down Heinrich Klaasen. It was witnessed on the field that Dube tried to calm down Klassen and after having a chat with him he tried to move him out of this matter.
