WBBL: Simon Helmet appointed as the new coach for Melbourne Renegades
Simon Helmet has replaced Lachlan Stevens who resigned last month.
Melbourne Renegades have appointed Simon Helmet as their new coach for the Women’s Big Bash League. The team confirmed his appointment on Monday.
Renegades believe that the 49 brings a lot of international experience from different tournaments across the globe.
The helmet is known for holding coaching roles in various T20 leagues such as the Indian Premier League, Caribbean Premier League, Afghan Premier League, Bangladesh Premier League, and the Big Bash League.
He was also the Renegades’ inaugural BBL coach and returned to the team for both BBL and WBBL last season.
“It was a great experience returning to the Renegades last season, and in my first year in WBBL, I was once the competition.” Helmet said
“It was a tough season for the US in terms of results but winning three of our last five games highlights the resilience and character of the group, so I am excited to be working with them again and seeing what we can build over the next couple of seasons,” he added
The Renegades would look to focus on the positives with their former coach back in the side for the next two seasons.
