WWE released its first digital-only album, WWE The Music, Volume 7, on iTunes in 2007. Beginning in 2012, WWE started making older albums accessible through online shops. It started with the first five “volume” albums issued from 1995 to 2001.

Fandango’s entrance theme briefly peaked in the Top 10 in the mid-week charts before falling to No. 44 on April 20, 2013, in the UK Singles Chart. WWE released singles for eight NXT wrestlers developed by CFO after the NXT Arrival show on February 27, 2014. Tyler Breeze’s music video and song followed in May. After more than 32 years of work, Jim Johnston’s contract with the WWE reportedly expired on November 30, 2017, and the organization let him go.

An Introductory Theme

The theme of a wrestling match or show can capture its essence. In most cases, it is the very first thing fans are exposed to, and the appropriate theme may enrage thousands of people with just one note or sound effect. The vast majority of superstars’ themes have been written, composed, and recorded over the years by WWE in-house musician Jim Johnston, but occasionally wrestling asks well-known musicians to create a theme song for a wrestler.

When it occurs, the outcome is something that grabs the attention of both wrestling fans and fans of the band that created the theme music. In certain instances, wrestlers may take an already well-known song and make it their own. In doing so, they may even give the song new life and fame while introducing the recording artist to new listeners.

Occasionally, the biggest names in music and wrestling will collaborate, allowing the use of a legendary song or even a live performance of the song to match the legendary status of the wrestler or event involved. There are many themes available to suit the bill, but only a select handful have a lasting impact on fans of music and professional wrestling.
