Which team has never won the National Football League?

There will be twelve clubs that have never won a Super Bowl as of 2022. These teams are the Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Chargers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Buffalo Bills, Atlanta Falcons, Minnesota Vikings, Carolina Panthers, Tennessee Titans, Arizona Cardinals, and Atlanta.

The Cardinals defeated the Falcons and Panthers En route to defeating the Eagles in the NFC Championship in 2008, winning the NFC West with a 9-7 record. The Cardinals will be attending their first Super Bowl thanks to that. Thanks to a long touchdown pass from Kurt Warner to Larry Fitzgerald in Super Bowl XLIII, the Cardinals were able to gain a late lead. However, the Steelers recovered the ball, and Ben Roethlisberger directed a drive that ended with a circus grab by Santonio Holmes in the end zone. With a score of 27–23, the Steelers prevailed.

Carolina Panthers

Five clubs, including the Panthers, had their Super Bowl aspirations dashed by Tom Brady and the Patriots. When the squad made its first Super Bowl appearance in 2004, they fell to New England, 32-29. With just over a minute left to play, Jake Delhomme connected with Ricky Proehl on a touchdown throw to force a tie. However, Brady, the king of the playoff game-winning drive, put the Patriots in position for a field goal. With only four seconds left in the game, Adam Vinatieri took the victory.

Atlanta Falcon

With a 25-point lead squandered on the Patriots in Super Bowl LI, the Falcons suffered one of the greatest defeats in Super Bowl history. But their other loss is also very difficult. They defeated the almost unbeatable Vikings, who concluded the 1998 season 15-1, in the NFC Championship against all odds. However, star cornerback Eugene Robinson was later detained for attempting to solicit sex from an undercover cop the night before the Broncos defeated Atlanta, 34-19.

Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals haven’t been to the Super Bowl in a while, but their supporters may still harbor animosity toward the 49ers. In each of their meetings, San Francisco defeated the Bengals. After the 1981 season, the Joe Montana-Bill Walsh dynasty in San Francisco officially began with Super Bowl XVI. They triumphed 26–21 over the Bengals.

Seven years later, in Super Bowl XXIII, the teams squared off once more. The Niners were trailing 16-13 when Montana took charge of an 85-yard drive that resulted in a touchdown pass to Jerry Rice, giving them a 20-16 victory.

Buffalo Bills

Imagine your team making it to four Super Bowls and losing each one. Assume the four Super Bowls were held in quick succession. That is how Bill’s supporters live. After the 1990 season, they witnessed their team suffer a heartbreaking 20-19 defeat in the franchise’s first-ever Super Bowl appearance when kicker Scott Norwood’s game-winning field goal effort was missed to the right. Their only Super Bowl matchup that was close was that one. In 1992, they were defeated by Washington 37–24, and in back-to-back Super Bowls, the Cowboys defeated them 52–17 and 30–13. After going 15-1 in 2015 and securing the top NFC seed, the Panthers were given a second chance.

Los Angeles Chargers

After the 1994 season, the Chargers won the Super Bowl, but they faced Steve Young’s 49ers as an 18.5-point underdog. Therefore, it wasn’t a major surprise when San Francisco won this game 49–26. Still, the Chargers’ loss had to hurt.

Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings were one game away from making their second straight Super Bowl appearance this postseason. The Vikings lost their chance to become the first team to host a Super Bowl in their home stadium when Nick Foles and the Eagles defeated them 38-7 in the NFC Championship, eliminating them from contention.

The Vikings’ four Super Bowl performances haven’t been all that exciting. After the 1969 season, they fell to the Chiefs in Super Bowl IV by a score of 23-7. After Miami’s flawless 1972 season, the Dolphins defeated them in Super Bowl VII, 24-7. In Super Bowl IX in 1975, the Steelers prevailed 16–6. Two years later, the Raiders won Super Bowl XI, 32-14, to complete the sweep.

Tennessee Titans

The Titans have only ever played in one Super Bowl, and it was a heartbreaking loss. Late in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl XXXIV following the 1999 season, they were trailing the Rams 23-16 when Steve McNair hit Kevin Dyson in the end zone. When Jones stopped Dyson short of the goal line, it appeared as though Dyson had linebacker Mike Jones beaten for the game-winning score.

Which groups of teams have never won the Super Bowl?

The Houston Texans, Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns, and Jacksonville Jaguars have all failed to reach a Super Bowl. The Jaguars, who advanced to the AFC Championship this season and would have defeated the Patriots except for a legendary Brady playoff comeback, are on the upswing. Once Deshaun Watson returns to the field in 2018, the Texans’ future is also promising.

Matt Patricia, the defensive coordinator for the Patriots, will take over as the head coach of the Lions. Patricia may be the one to push the squad into contention because of his extensive Super Bowl experience. Cleveland supporters may have to wait a bit for their club to have the chance to remove their name from this list since the Browns have gone 1-31 over the previous two seasons.
