Who Is Aaron George? – Aaron George made the most of the flying start provided by Vaibhav Suryavanshi and went on to score a beautifully paced century in the third Youth ODI between India and South Africa in Benoni on Wednesday. The 19-year-old opener reached his hundred in 91 balls, getting there with a simple single off Jason Rowles, guided neatly to long-off.

After completing the milestone, George removed his helmet and soaked in the applause from his teammates, a moment that summed up a near-perfect innings for India U19. It was also the team’s second century of the match.

A Match Filled with Big Performances:

Earlier in the innings, captain Vaibhav Suryavanshi had set the tone with a breathtaking knock of 127 off 74 balls, smashing nine fours and 10 sixes. While Suryavanshi went after the bowlers with power, George played the role of the steady anchor, finding the boundary regularly. He struck 15 fours on his way to the hundred, ensuring the momentum never dropped.

India’s Strong Run in the Series:

India began the three-match series with a 25-run win, secured through the DLS method. They followed that up with a dominant eight-wicket victory in the second match, once again benefiting from DLS, which helped them seal the series early.

Who Is Aaron George?

Aaron George is a right-handed top-order batter who has already made a name for himself at the youth level. He has represented India U19 in the Asia Cup and comes from Hyderabad, where he steadily rose through the age-group ranks. He has also played for his state in several domestic youth competitions.

George has featured in tournaments such as the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, where he has delivered consistent performances. In the last two seasons, he scored 341 and 373 runs, respectively. His leadership qualities have also stood out, as he has been captaining sides since the 2022–23 Vijay Merchant Trophy, a season highlighted by his unbeaten 303 against Bihar.

Big Game Performances on the International Stage:

George has already shown his ability to step up in big matches. In the opening game of the 2025 U19 Asia Cup, he scored a half-century. He followed it up with an impressive 85 against Pakistan in a group-stage clash, further underlining his temperament.

Inspired by AB de Villiers:

George looks up to South African great AB de Villiers and tries to learn from his approach to the game. Speaking to Sportstar, he said, “His range, ability to hit any ball anywhere, that is the ultimate skill. Having more than two responses for a particular ball is what takes you higher. I really like his composure on the field. He is not looking to fight and is a real gentleman when it comes to cricket.”

With his calm presence at the crease and a growing list of strong performances, Aaron George continues to show why he is considered one of India’s brightest young batting talents.
