Who Is Tyler Epp? Cadillac’s New “Visionary” Figure

3 Min Read

Tyler Epp probably isn’t a household name for most Formula 1 fans, yet. But as Cadillac gears up for its ambitious entry into F1, all eyes are turning to their latest signing: the so-called “visionary” figure now steering Cadillac’s commercial future. Meet Tyler Epp, the newly announced Global Head of Commercial Strategy, whose reputation in motorsport circles is already the stuff of paddock legend.

Tyler Epp: A Proven F1 Gamechanger

Before Cadillac came calling, Tyler Epp was best known for transforming the Miami Grand Prix into a must-see F1 spectacle. Under his leadership as president, Miami didn’t just sell out every year; it shattered TV ratings, delivering four of the five largest U.S. F1 audiences in history and snagging a contract extension through 2041 (yes, that’s the longest F1 hosting deal out there). In F1, that’s not luck. That’s vision mixed with pure hustle, and Epp has both in spades.

Commercial Brains, American Swagger

Tyler Epp isn’t the guy who tinkers with engines or obsesses over tyre strategy. His playground is the boardroom and the buzz outside the circuit. Cadillac wants to punch above its weight, and Epp’s blueprint is all about building a commercial brand that feels bigger than the sport itself. Think blockbuster sponsors, sold-out events, and, above all, making Cadillac F1 a name that even non-racing fans recognise.

If his Miami track record is anything to go by, expect Cadillac F1 pop-up shops, big-money partnerships, and star-studded paddock parties from Day 1. And yes, Tyler Epp’s already helped Cadillac land major brands like Tommy Hilfiger and Jim Beam.

More Than Just F1

This isn’t Tyler Epp’s first rodeo. The guy’s spent two decades shaping American motorsport, from managing NASCAR outfits like Hall of Fame Racing to holding key ops roles at Chip Ganassi Racing. Even the NFL got a taste of Tyler’s commercial mind; he’s served on the business side for the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Diego Padres as well. In Cadillac’s own words, Epp brings “a unique command of the sport domestically and worldwide”.

Why Visionary? Why Now?

Building a new F1 team is chaotic, risky, and usually a PR minefield. Epp is here to flip that script. Phrases like “building from the ground up” and “commercial powerhouse” get thrown around, but with Tyler Epp, Cadillac’s ambitions feel suddenly real, and a little bit American in the best way. He’s not just putting Cadillac on the map; he’s painting it red, white, and blue.
