Bangladesh cricket great Shakib Al Hasan has written his name in cricketing history once again as the fifth bowler to achieve 500 T20 wickets. The milestone was achieved in the CPL 2025 match between his team, Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, and the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
Milestone Moment: Rizwan Becomes Shakib’s 500th Victim
Requiring only one wicket for the milestone, Shakib was brought in for the 15th over of the innings. He almost struck on his third ball when Jayden Seales caught a boundary, but it was overturned as a six after a foot on the cushion.
Only a few deliveries down the road, Shakib sent Mohammad Rizwan packing through a return catch, claiming his 500th T20 wicket. He didn’t rest there picking up two more wickets in his next over to end the game with 502 career T20 wickets.

Among his numerous bowling records, Shakib’s most famous spell was in the first ever CPL 2013, where he took 6 for 6 against Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel.
Later in 2013, representing Prime Bank Cricket Club, he took another six-wicket haul in the Victory Day T20 Cup, making him just the second bowler in T20s after Ajantha Mendis to achieve several six-wicket hauls. This elite team has been supplemented by Arzan Nagwaswalla (2023) since then.
Shakib’s Economy: Silent Strength Behind the Wickets
Along with his wicket-taking ability, one of the reasons behind Shakib Al Hasan’s success has been his control and economy. He ranks as follows on bowling economy for all bowlers with 250+ T20 innings:
