Who Will Replace Fred Vasseur At Ferrari? Potential Candidates

3 Min Read

Ferrari is once again the centre of attention in F1 as rumours of Fred Vasseur being replaced are at an all-time high. This isn’t news that he would be replaced as team principal, as the speculations began weeks ago. He has been the frontrunner of the F1 team, but let’s face it. He hasn’t been able to do a good job in the 2025 season. The team has only been able to stand on the podium twice, with Charles Leclerc getting a podium at the Monaco and Spanish Grand Prix.

They haven’t won a single race, even after the high-profile transfer of the seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton. There have been multiple instances where the team’s strategy has cost them a podium and a potential win. The most recent instance was at the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix, where Charles Leclerc kept insisting that his tires were okay, but the team forced him to pit. So, needless to say, Ferrari does need a better strategy or a new team principal altogether.

Vasseur took over as Ferrari’s F1 team principal in December 2022 and initially brought success to the team. The 2024 season saw the team pull off five wins across Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. However, the 2025 campaign has been a bitter contrast. The team trails behind McLaren and Mercedes after just 10 races. Lewis Hamilton is yet to secure a podium finish in a main race, and the team’s gamble on the new radical design has also failed to deliver expected results.

Who Will Be Ferrari’s New Team Principal?

Reportedly, Ferrari made an attempt to lure Red Bull’s Christian Horner, only to be rejected. With Horner out of reach, the attention has now shifted to Antonello Colerta, Ferrari’s Head of Endurance Racing. Under his leadership, the team has won three consecutive Le Mans titles and remained unbeaten at the World Endurance Championship 2025.

His proven track record in endurance racing had made him the best and most well-suited replacement for Vasseur.

However, despite multiple media reports, the team has publicly dismissed these rumours about Fred Vasseur being replaced. Nevertheless, Vasseur himself expressed his frustration at the media frenzy and its impact on team morale.

As Ferrari continues to make it through a turbulent season, the leadership replacement could bring significant expertise to the team at a time when they need to start producing results.
