Youngest Woman Centurion In T20I: Teenage sensation Fanny Utagushimaninde of Rwanda made her name in cricketing history as she created a new record by becoming the youngest centurion in women’s T20I cricket. She achieved this remarkable feat at the age of 15 years and 223 days in her first match in the Nigeria Invitational Women’s T20I Tournament.

She scored a sensational unbeaten 111 runs off 65 balls in her first match against the Ghana Women’s National Cricket Team in Lagos, becoming the first-ever female to get a century in her T20I debut.

Breaking Multiple Records

Utagushimaninde’s innings broke many records:

  • Youngest centurion in women’s T20I cricket history
  • First woman to score a T20I century on debut
  • She broke the previous debut record of 96* by Karen Rolton (2005)
  • She broke the youngest centurian record by Prosscovia Alako (16 years 233 days)

Comparison with Men’s T20I Records

There is a small number of men who have accomplished this feat in International T20 cricket but none have done it while playing for member nations. Here are two players who did it:

  • Matthew Spoors – He scored 108* on his first appearance (2022)
  • Gustav Mckeon – Youngest male to score a T20 hundred at 18 years and 280 days old.

This milestone demonstrates the global growth of women’s cricket particularly among new countries such as Rwanda , meaning Utagushimaninde’s accomplishment will provide motivation for future Young Crickets .
