Former India fast bowler Ashish Nehra missed playing in the 2011 World Cup final due to finger fractures, but he was not prevented from traveling to Mumbai and India won their second World Cup title. Talking about the reason for not playing in the final, Ashish Nehra said that my injury prevented me from playing.
Nehra said while talking to News18 that I came to know 48 hours before the final that I am not playing. When I left Chandigarh, I thought that I would be able to play in the finals but my hand got so big that he needed surgery. By that time I had enough experience, I was near the age of 32, and I was also a part of the World Cup before that (in 2003).
