PSL 2025 has once again managed to grab the limelight, however, for all the bizarre reasons. From giving hair dryers and hair trimmers to empty stadiums, PSL is consistently making it to headlines.
There are no fans in the stadium to watch the PSL matches. In one of the PSL matches, the entire stadium was empty.
PSL 2025: Digital Success Amidst Stadium Absence
Former Pakistan Captain spoke about this. He said, the empty seats aren’t just a coincidence they are a form of protest. “In Pakistan, silence in the stands doesn’t mean apathy. It means anger,” he stated.
The lower attendance numbers this season are indicative of a fan base that is growing more and more disenchanted due to poor player selections, administrative controversies, and a perceived lack of dedication from those in charge. Many people believe that staying at home sends a stronger message than going with animosity.
PSL vs IPL: A Tale of Two Leagues and Their Fans
Let’s talk about digital. PSL was only at the half stage, so I asked about our digital rating. While PSL is receiving ratings of over 11, the Najam Sethi show used to receive a 0.5 rating on television. In a press conference prior to the PSL final, Sethi stated, “So, it would be 18 or 20 when it completes.”
“More than 150 million people viewed it online. It is no small matter. At the same time, the PSL had a digital rating of over 150 million, and the IPL had 130 million. Thus, this is a huge victory for Pakistan,” he continued.
Many Pakistani cricketers are comparing PSL with IPL, but they do not have as much viewership as the Indian Premier League. Fans are making fun of PSL when they get a hair dryer or trimmer as a gift in the dressing room.
Meanwhile, social media has been buzzing with reactions from the fans, who are left surprised after seeing the empty stadiums. Since the Pakistan Super League has failed to pique the interest and attention of its supporters once more, they are being ridiculed by fans on social media.
