Indian cricket team will be facing West Indies in the first T20I on Friday, 29th July at Brian Lara Cricket Academy (cricket ground). Rohit Sharma will be back in his role of captaincy in the T20Is. India’s T20I squad members have started their training session. Indian team have tried so many opening combinations in the T20Is since opening batter KL Rahul got injured.

It is not been a good year for KL Rahul as he is surrounded with some injuries and bad luck. KL Rahul had a surgery in June for the groin injury he sustained ahead of the South Africa’s T20I series. After then, the opener was picked for the 3-match ODIs against West Indies but he was tested positive for COVID-19 before that.

KL Rahul thus haven’t travelled to Trinidad for this T20Is as the medical team suggest him a minimum of one week rest. It is still a question who will be Rohit Sharma’s opening partner in this opening T20I against West Indies.

Who can be Rohit Sharma’s opening partner in the T20I series against West Indies:

1. Ishan Kishan: Ishan opens with Rohit Sharma in Mumbai Indians. The opening batter is not in a good touch lately so Ishan may not play this match.

2. Rishabh Pant: Rishabh Pant did open the innings with Rohit Sharma in the England tour (T20I series). It was a decent performance from Rishabh in the opening but selectors might not want him to be permanently taking up that role.
