Carlos Alcaraz is currently facing a crisis regarding his participation in the Madrid Open 2025 due to a muscle injury sustained in the finals of the Barcelona Open. The injury occurred in his right upper leg, and he required medical treatment twice before his match against Holger Rune. Following the injury, Alcatraz underwent MRI scans and medical tests to assess the extent of damage.
Despite these physical challenges, he has expressed positivity about his appearance at the Madrid Open 2025. He said, “I feel fine physically. I’ve had tests, and we’ll see what the results say. I’m used to playing with discomfort, so let’s hope I can play and enjoy Madrid.”
The injury and the demanding schedule of the Madrid Open 2025 have raised questions about his participation in the event, which led to tennis icon Adriano Panatta being concerned about his action-packed schedule. He said, “I read that the Spaniard complained that the Masters 1000 lasts two weeks, but let’s look carefully at his schedule. After Monte-Carlo, he went to Barcelona, then he will do Madrid, Rome, and Paris without interruption. Is it a problem of the calendar or a problem of the schedule because he plays all the time?”

Pedro Fullana stated, “He didn’t train yesterday, he didn’t train today, and we can confirm that he will not be training tomorrow either.”
Further, he stated in a late-night talk show, El Hormiguero, recently, “I thought at the beginning of the week I’d be better. My participation in Madrid is in doubt, I’m a little bit tired physically. But I have to listen to my body and see how the tests go. For me, Madrid is one of the places where I enjoy playing the most.”
