Last year’s finalists, New Zealand announced the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup slated to be held in Australia. The 15-member team comprises two new faces, Fin Allen and Michael Bracewell. The rest of the side was part of the team that made it to the final in the UAE last year.

Kane Williamson is captaining the team. Trent Boult and James Neesham who earlier declined the NZC contract are part of the squad. Meanwhile, paceman Adam Milne retains his place. Devon Conway is the front-line wicketkeeper.
New Zealand opt for experience, Jamieson misses out
Opener Martin Guptill is going to play his seventh T20 World Cup. This sees him join an exclusive list of players in Dwayne Bravo, Chris Gayle, Mohammad Mahmudullah, and Mushfiqur Rahim who appeared in seven World Cups. India’s Rohit Sharma and Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al-Hasan will appear in their eighth event.

“Of those who featured in last year’s World Cup squad, Kyle Jamieson wasn’t considered. He continues his rehabilitation from a back injury, while Todd Astle and Tim Seifert have missed selection,” stated an official NZC release.
Kiwis to start campaign against Australia
The New Zealand T20 World Cup squad will first contest the T20 tri-series with Pakistan and Bangladesh starting in Christchurch on October 7. “It’s always a special time announcing a World Cup squad, and I’d like to congratulate the 15 players selected today. It’s especially exciting for Finn and Michael as it is their first ICC event, while Martin Guptill is preparing for his 7th T20 World Cup – which in itself is an incredible achievement,” said head coach Gary Stead.
The Kiwis will open their campaign against Australia at the SCG on October 22. They will face Afghanistan, England, and two qualifiers at the group stage.
