Wimbledon 2025 is not just a tennis tournament; it’s one of the greatest stages, and this year, all eyes are on Novak Djokovic. At the age of 38, Djokovic is chasing history, but the real question is, could this be his final appearance? Let’s find out.
Will Novak Djokovic Retire?
Novak Djokovic isn’t just another player. He’s the last legend standing from the iconic ‘Big Three’ era. While Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have already hung up their rackets, Novak Djokovic is still out there, fighting for that 25th Grand Slam. He’s already claimed 24 Grand Slams, a number that seems untouchable, and now he’s looking for one final Grand Slam. He enters the tournament as the third favorite after Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, but will it be his final?

“Whether it could be my last dance (at Wimbledon), I’m not sure, as I’m not sure about Roland Garros or any other slam that I play next. My wish is to play for several more years. I would love to be healthy physically and also mentally motivated to keep on playing at the highest level. That’s the goal, but you never know at this stage,” he admitted in a recent press conference, leaving fans and pundits guessing about his future.
Further reflecting on the physical demands of competing at the highest level in his late thirties, he said, “In a sense you’re always hunting because you’re always going for the titles – in my also privileged position – the records and more history. I’ll try to have a very good tournament and go as far as I can.”
A Challenging Season

The 2025 season has been a rollercoaster ride for Novak Djokovic as he suffered a three-match losing streak going into the clay season, and his ranking slipped outside the top three last September, something unheard of for the Serbian legend. Yet, he still managed a deep run at Roland-Garros, only to be stopped by Jannik Sinner. “This could have been the last match I ever play here,” Djokovic confessed after his French Open exit. “Do I wish to play more? Yes, I do. But will I be able to play in 12 months’ time here again? I don’t know,” he added, hinting at the uncertainty that shadows every step at this stage of his career.
Still, Novak Djokovic is not ready to close the curtain just yet. So, as he steps onto Centre Court, the world watches. Is this the last dance, or just another chapter in a story that refuses to end? With Novak Djokovic, you never really know. And that’s exactly why we keep watching.
